Course Update W/E 12th March

Just a quick update and yes, more videos on what’s been happening on the course this week.

With around 40mm of rain falling early in the week, it’s been a good test for some of the recent work that’s been done on outfalls. Unfortunately, due to the excessive amount of rain it was not possible to complete the 2nd Fairway (East) Drainage works, this work will now be rescheduled until later in the year. KPM have managed to complete the installation of a new pipe and headwall in front of the 6th Tee. Completion of this work provides us with a solid base for any future drainage / ditch work we may want to carry out on the 5th / 6th Fairways.

Despite the weather, the PGC greens team have had a busy week continuing to prepare the course for our return to golf on the 29th. While lockdown has given some benefit to the course in terms of wear and tear, we do need to be reminded that since the turn of the year there’s been close on 0.5m of rain and Penwortham like other courses in the area have suffered in terms of on-course work.

Looking forward to next week. The greens team will continue to work on the course in preparation for our return. We are also carrying out some remedial work on the Car Park, so if you do visit the Club next week the Car Park maybe coned off, restricting access.
